His artistic practice developed through figurative painting that links the tradition of the image with media culture, cinema, advertising and the symbols of contemporary society. His work is recognisable for the presence of famous figures, icons of art history, political figures and protagonists of popular imagination, often placed in unexpected situations.

A collective repertoire

The works draw on a repertoire of images already known to the public: comic book characters, celebrities, religious figures, political leaders and masterpieces of art history. These elements are juxtaposed and recombined, generating visual and narrative short-circuits. Immediate recognition is an integral part of the experience: the viewer enters the work through a shared heritage, but is invited to reconsider the meaning of the images and their role in contemporary culture.

Appropriation and parody

Appropriation is a central critical tool. Veneziano transfers icons from their original context and inserts them into narratives that modify their symbolic value. Parody can highlight contradictions in power, consumerism, religion and public communication. Irony is not merely a comic strategy: it serves to make visible the ambiguities of symbols and the way in which society uses them to build consensus, identity and belonging.

Technique and figurative language

The painting often adopts a sharp figuration of immediate legibility, close in precision to graphics and illustration. The clarity of the image allows attention to be focused on the relationships between the characters and the content of the scene. Colour, composition and visual citations are calibrated to produce a direct impact. The artist works on the boundary between the artistic image and the media image, showing how the two spheres are now intertwined.

Exhibitions and public debate

Veneziano has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. The explicit and sometimes provocative nature of the subjects has often generated attention and public debate. His work has been associated with New Pop, but retains a direct relationship with the tradition of figurative painting. The viewer’s reaction is part of the mechanism: the works can arouse amusement, unease or dissent, staging the complexity of the symbols that permeate society.

Critical interpretation

Giuseppe Veneziano’s research is based on the tension between familiarity and disturbance. The images are recognisable, but their combination produces short-circuits that force a revision of established associations. Painting becomes a space for commentary on the society of the spectacle, in which politics, religion and entertainment share visual codes. Irony and provocation are tools to interrogate the present and the way in which it constructs its own icons.

["post-944","artisti","type-artisti","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
